Taxing the Rich

Dave Ramsey has a pretty solid rant about his frustrations with those who want to impose higher taxes on the wealthier people in the nation.

I personally agree with him, but I suspect some of you wouldn't.

Here's the article.

Any thoughts?

Should we tax everyone the same? Should the wealthy have to pay more?

  1. I just think there should be a set percentage for everyone, that way no matter what your income, you pay a certain percentage. Higher earners would pay more, but it would be in proportion to their income. But just because people work hard and are educated doesn't necessarily mean they are going to make a lot of money. I know plenty of other people with the same amount of higher education as myself who make a heck of a lot more money than I do--unfortunately I am in an industry that doesn't pay very well even though you work your butt off (education).

  2. I think there is a lot of validity in Mr. Ramsey's argument. I also see a lot of validity in the Democratic argument that those whom America has treated well should owe their country a little more than the average American, not a little less than the average American as it is set up now.

But then again, I'm a moderate -- I recognize the need for personal responsibility, but I also recognize some folks' need for a hand-up. But when does a hand-up turn into a hand-out?

I'm glad that we have smarter people than me thinking about this for us.

  3. Great article! I created a post about this issue myself. Oddly similar title.

  4. Good thoughts. I agree that people who use their money and resources wisely should not be punished. They hopefully are returning their blessings to help others, but even if they aren't... they'll answer for that later.
Hope you guys are doing well!
