When you can walk to work, sometimes your cat follows you to the office.

Carolina and I came over to the office tonight. Having my Great-Grandmother's funeral this week has caused me to get severely behind on both work and grad school stuff. I'm going to be really pushing it to get both sermons done tomorrow.

Though she doesn't do it all the time, Nacho has always enjoyed following us when we go on walks. When we had Dora, we always walked as a family of four; two humans, a dog, and a cat. Tonight she followed us over to the office, and after closing off all the doors besides my personal office room, we let her join us in here. As you can tell, she made herself right at home. I continue to be fascinated by my cat.

Turtle

When we first moved to Old Hickory, we were sitting outside on like the 2nd day when this large turtle came walking briskly down our sidewalk. I got some good shots of Nacho with the Turtle. When I picked it up, it kept nipping at my hand. Nacho kept sniffing its face, which concerned me, but nothing bad happened. At any rate, I just thought these were good pictures.

Nacho has adjusted really well to the neighborhood. She loves sitting on our porch, or rolling in the dirt in the front yard.

The Mini Mighty Hunter

I have always loved my cat's ability to catch small pesky things. Nacho always kills any bugs that get in to our house. On a couple of occassions, I've seen a brown recluse, and before I could get something to kill it, she's already finished it off.

Just in 2007, I know she has killed 3 birds, 1 squirrel, 1 mole (she killed 2 last year), and now 2 mice. Two days ago she showed up at the door with a mouse hanging from her mouth. Carolina ran screaming. It was pretty funny.

Yesterday, we were loading up the POD, and out of nowhere, she came jumping onto our driveway with a little squeeking friend in her mouth. She would let it get about 3 feet away from her, then she would pounce on it again. Then she'd carry it over to the yard and do the same routine. Finally, I found the mouse dead in the driveway.

Fortunately, the mice she's killed were not in my house. She's finding them outside somewhere.

I don't care what anyone else thinks. I really like cats; especially mine.

Is It Wrong To Envy Your Cat?

As I've sat here for many hours now, slaving away to finish a 25-30 page paper for my grad school class, I have been severely envious of my cat. The best I can tell, she parties all night and sleeps all day. It doesn't appear that too much is bothering her.

On another note, my dog Dora's ears have been getting worse. The hematoma (blood pocket in the ear) is now back. She flops her head and rubs it on the ground almost incessantly. I see the inevitable coming, and I hate it.

A Beggar In My House

Whenever one of us eats in the livingroom chair (pepperoni pizza in this case), our little friend Nacho likes to come and try to sample whatever is on the menu. Her favorite is when we eat either chicken or tuna, in which case we usually give her a few bites of it on a napkin on the kitchen floor. When she's done, she takes her paw and rubs it on the floor in the direction of her napkin, like she's looking for extra scraps. Does anyone else's cat do that?
